In the final quarter of 2020, the virtual fitness app sector saw varying performance levels across leading iOS applications in the United States. Data provided by Sensor Tower showcases how these apps fared in terms of downloads, revenue, and weekly active users.
Fitness Coach - Workout Plan by Luni exhibited an upward revenue trend, with earnings peaking at around $158K in the third week of December. Downloads, however, followed a downward trajectory from over 120K in early October to approximately 73K by the year's end. Weekly active users spiked to nearly 165K in mid-October but dipped to around 103K towards the close of December.
Fitbit: Health & Fitness, developed by Google LLC, generated the most revenue among the surveyed apps, with a notable peak of over $370K in late November. Downloads saw a massive surge to nearly 275K in the third week of December, while weekly active users climbed from around 2.27M at the start of the quarter to over 2.36M in the final week.
Planet Fitness Workouts had negligible revenue, so the focus shifts to its downloads and weekly active users. Downloads reached a high of approximately 90K in mid-October and ended the quarter with a strong 99K. Weekly active users showed an increase from roughly 743K to 923K throughout the quarter.
AllTrails: Hike, Bike & Run saw a revenue peak of over $162K in late November, while downloads experienced a decline from 55K at the quarter's start to around 52K at its conclusion. Weekly active users had a slight uptick from around 244K to 228K over the same period.
Lastly, onX Hunt: GPS Hunting Maps reported the highest revenue in late October, surpassing $1M. Downloads showed a steady increase, ending the year with over 45K, while weekly active users grew from 85K to over 120K by the end of December.
